Everything-at-once guide to data regulation compliance

The list of compliance regulations has grown since the General Data Protection Regulation was implemented nearly five years ago - with more to come. Although there are positives related to these regulations, there are blind spots in how they are reported and monitored, says Terry Ray, Senior Vice President, and fellow for Imperva, Inc.

Ray writes in his column for Tech Beacon that “All too often, such efforts lead to a patchwork defense system where pockets of data are monitored while others are ignored.”

He cites examples such as regulations that require specific protections for certain categories of data and not for others. Ray warns such dilemmas could wrongly categorize certain data assets, causing some of information to be hidden unnecessarily.

Ray recommends an everywhere-all-at-once approach by “abandoning selective protections for specific categories, organizations can improve regulatory compliance while also eliminating blind spots.
